Community Updates: April 2022
Our global community of youth here at Youth STEM 2030 are tackling the world’s biggest challenges through science, technology, engineering and maths, creating a real impact across all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Here’s how some of them have been changing the world lately…
Artash Awarded Youth Ocean Conservation Summit Mini-Grant
Artash Nath, who is a Youth STEM Matters Author, was awarded a Mini-Grant by the Youth Ocean Conservation Summit for his “Monitor My Ocean” App. The project will have a quantitative model that will monitor the yearly changes to noise levels in the ocean, and a second model to show how ambient noise levels in global oceans went down during lockdowns around the world.
Artash’s research can be used to mitigate the impact of exploitation of our oceans for commercial use and the impact of climate change on marine biodiversity.
Congrats Artash!
Rushank & Apoorva Win Research Science Institute Places
2020 Youth STEM Summit Speakers Rushank Goyal & Apoorva Panidapu have been accepted and given places to attend the Research Science Institute's (RSI) 2022 summer programme. Alongside 81 other young people, they’ll be learning about scientific theory and science and technology research at one of the most prestigious international summer research programmes in the world.
Well done to both for getting in, and we can’t wait to see what you achieve through the programme!

Great job on your achievements Blessed!
Apoorva Charity Auction Update
In the last Community Update, we highlighted 2020 Youth STEM Summit Speaker Apoorva Panidapu and how she was auctioning her portrait of Maya Angelou to raise funds to donate to Nova Ukraine’s Humanitarian Aid Fund to help refugees affected by the war in Ukraine.
Thanks to the auction, Apoorva was able to raise $7000 for the charity! Well done Apoorva!
Ruvarashe Needs Your Help
Also in last month’s Community Update, we highlighted Youth STEM Matters Volunteer Team Alumni member Ruvarashe Moyo winning the opportunity to represent Zimbabwe as a Regeneron ISEF finalist. However, Ruvarashe needs your help to fund her travel and accommodation from Zimbabwe to Atlanta, Georgia, to take part this May.
That’s why she’s started a GoFundMe page and is asking for donations. If you can, please donate and share!
