Community Updates: February 2022
Our global community of youth here at Youth STEM 2030 are tackling the world’s biggest challenges through science, technology, engineering and maths, creating a real impact across all 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Here’s how some of them have been changing the world lately…
Samantha, Blessed & Ruvarashe Named Finalists in Zimbabwe Science Fair 2022
Earlier this month, Samantha Kaseke, Blessed Kutyauripo (both Youth STEM Matters Volunteer Team) and Ruvarashe Moyo (Youth STEM Matters Volunteer Team Alumni) were named in the top 60 finalists for the 2022 Zimbabwe Science Fair, for their projects “Carbon dioxide adsorbent ecofriendly porous coordination polymer”, “Electric Step” and “SARS-Cov-2 detected in sewage: A potential health risk for people in Zimbabwe'' respectively. Selected from over 600 applicants, they'll now go on to compete in the final round of judging for grand and special awards.

Rania Wins Future Leaders Of The Year
Recently, Rania Hashim, who was a 2021 Youth STEM Summit & Research Conference Speaker, was named one of the Winners of Future Leaders of the Year. The competition had participants from across 71 countries demonstrate their talents and leadership skills in hopes of winning and receiving life-changing prizes. Among them was Rania, who succeeded in becoming one of ten winners!

Angela Joins SEWF Youth Advisory Group
Back in January, it was announced that Angela Busheska, who spoke at our 2021 Youth STEM Summit & Research Conference about her social enterprise EnRoute, has been selected to join the Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF) Youth Advisory Group. Comprising of several young social entrepreneurs from different backgrounds, countries and economic sectors, it’s their role to ensure that SEWF22 is able to accommodate the voices of young people on how to create a more impact driven economy and just world.

Seyyede Selected as Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador
Seyyede Khamsa Asbaghian, one of our 2021 Youth STEM Summit Speakers, has been selected as a Max Thabiso Edkins Climate Ambassador. The programme, created by Connect4Climate in partnership with the Global Youth Climate Network (GYCN), will see Seyyede join a group of young global changemakers passionate about tackling climate change.

Diana Named in Next36 Canada 2022 Cohort
Youth STEM Matters Author & 2020 Youth STEM Summit Speaker Diana Virgovicova has been selected to be part of the Next36 Canada 2022 Cohort. NEXT Canada chooses 36 undergraduates and recent graduates from across the country each year, who they believe have what it takes to build Canada’s next billion dollar company.

Rood Shortlisted to Represent Haiti in the #UPGSustainability Class of 2022
Rood Myard Medgine Celange, who was a Speaker in our Social Impact Stream at the 2021 Youth STEM Summit, had recently been shortlisted as a candidate for the #UPGSustainability Leadership Class of 2022, one of the largest sustainability leadership training programmes in the world. She’s among 500+ young leaders enrolled in the programme, and will represent her country, Haiti.
