Rutendo is Fundraising to Complete Elective Africa Summer Internship

Youth STEM Matters Volunteer Team & 2020 Summit Design Team Member, Rutendo Kahari, is about to take her next big step into the medical field by attending Elective Africa for a summer pre-med internship, where she’ll be able to shadow doctors in a field hospital in Mombasa. However, she still needs to cover costs so she can attend, so she’sstarted a GoFundMe page asking for donations.

PRASHANT MOHESH | Youth STEM 2030 COP26 Video Participant

Prashant Creates Youth Storytelling Opportunity

Prashant Mohesh, who featured in our video at COP26, has created an opportunity for young people around the world to tell their story and step up to protect our ocean, with the support of National Geographic Education, World Ocean Day, Ocean Wise, EarthEcho International, Oceans Network Canada, World Surf League, Nature For All, U.S Embassy Mauritius, Veranda Tamarin and Black River Hope Spot.

This year’s theme is “Plastic-Free Ocean Storytelling” and is open to all 8-25 year olds, with all participants getting a certificate and the best submissions can win some prizes!

Deadline for submissions is 12th May so apply now to tell your story!

Poppy Presents Research at Student Conference

Youth STEM Matters Volunteer Team & 2020 Youth STEM Summit Speaker Poppy Bradley spoke at the Society for Natural Sciences 5th Annual Student Conference at the University of Nottingham to talk about the organoid research she has been doing during her current industrial placement at GSK.

Siena and Angela Selected for the 2022 Forbes 30 Under 30 (Europe) in the Social Impact Category

2020 Youth STEM Summit Speaker Siena Castellon and 2021 Youth STEM Summit & Research Conference Speaker Angela Busheska have been selected for the seventh annual Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe 2022 for the Social Impact category! They’ve been recognised for contributing to the transformation of education, business and beyond which is both sustainable and systemic, thanks to their projects Neurodiversity Celebration Week and EnRoute respectively.

Laura Selected for Camp 2030, But Needs Sponsorship

Laura Maisvoreva, who is a Youth STEM Matters Volunteer Team & 2020 Youth STEM Summit Speaker, has been accepted into Camp 2030, a global innovation lab for the SDGs helping attendees take action, have their inputs heard on a global stage and develop into the next set of changemakers and leaders. However, she is seeking sponsorship so she can attend.

Yara Graduates from Youth Delegate Programme

Youth STEM Matters Volunteer Team & 2021 Youth STEM Summit Facilitator, Yara Obeidi has graduated from Unite 2030’s 6th cohort of the Youth Delegate Program! The 3 month long course helped develop a multitude of skills to aid those who attended to become global changemakers.

Well done Yara, those skills will come in handy as Youth STEM Matters’ Editor-in-Chief!

Connie Co-Moderatates Girls In ICT Day Event

Youth STEM Matters Volunteer Team Member Connie Siu M.H. was given the opportunity to commence celebrations for Girls in ICT Day at the Opening Ceremony in Bangkok aimed at encouraging more females to take up technology, as the co-moderator & an ITU Asia Pacific Generation Connect Youth Envoy.

DR AMIT PUJARI | Youth STEM Matters Interviewee

Dr Amit Pujari is British Science Association Award Lecture Winner

Dr Amit Pujari, who features in Youth STEM Matters Print Edition Issue 1, has been selected to deliver the 2022 Award Lecture in the Engineering, Technology and Industry category by the British Science Association. As an Award Lecturer, Amit will deliver a lecture on his research into bringing sensations of touch back to those who have had strokes at the 2022 British Science Festival.

Lewis Cannon

Lewis was Youth STEM 2030’s Communications & Admin Officer from December 2021 - June 2022. He’s a 19 year old based in Scotland who joined us through the UK Government’s Kickstart Scheme. During his time working with Youth STEM 2030, his motto was “while I may not personally be the person to put on a lab coat to do science experiments, or enjoy doing long equations for maths, in this role I can communicate STEM in a way that will inspire and empower others to use STEM to make a difference”.
