Youth STEM 2030 Wins Innovate UK Award for UK’s ‘Trailblazing Innovation Talent’
Youth STEM 2030 Founder, Mhairi McCann, is one of 233 entrepreneurs from across the UK selected to receive funding and tailored business support from Innovate UK, the UK’s innovation agency.
Designed to find and support the fresh innovation talent the UK needs, the award sees Youth STEM 2030 receive £15,000 worth of funding and tailored business support from Innovate UK, enabling us to advance our mission of empowering a generation of young people as STEM changemakers for a just and sustainable future. Building on our work over the past 4 years empowering 2,500+ young people in 82+ countries as STEM changemakers, this funding and support from Innovate UK will enable us to harness our expertise in creating meaningful, inclusive and participatory youth inclusion in decision-making, and launch new services in 2024 to embed diverse young people’s voices at the heart of STEM and sustainability-focussed organisations.
The competition attracted over 2,100 applications, and builds on the success of Innovate UK’s targeted programmes, like Women in Innovation and Young Innovators. Youth STEM 2030 is proud to be one of 233 successful applicants receiving a share of the £6.2 million boost to the UK’s future innovation leaders, with many of the award winners developing innovations to increase sustainability, strengthen social cohesion, or improve healthcare. As part of the award programme, Youth STEM 2030 Founder, Mhairi McCann, will also spend time inspiring and empowering other young people to pursue entrepreneurship and innovation.
